How Do I Find The Best Laundry Service Near Me? 6 Things To Look For
What do you do when it’s Wednesday at 6 am, you’re getting the kids ready for another day of virtual school, you’re out of dog food—and oh, your t-shirt isn’t passing the “sniff test” anymore?
Life’s crazy on a good day, but lately, it seems like we’re living in the Thunderdome. It’s getting harder to focus on mundane chores, like laundry, when you’re just trying to get through the day.
Outsourcing laundry might seem like an odd choice, but it’s no different than hiring someone for mowing the lawn, caring for your kids, or delivering groceries. An Orlando laundry service is just the pick-me-up we Floridians need right now.
You don’t have to get your laundry delivered for forever, either. But it’s a nice extra pair of hands when the in-laws insist on visiting without notice, you’ve got a crazy deadline at work, or you’re feeling exhausted from life. It’s okay to get a little extra help during the weeks when taking on “just one more thing” is too much to bear.
6 things to look for in an Orlando laundry service
“But how do I find a laundry service near me that’s trustworthy?” you might wonder. You don’t want someone who shows up late, mishandles your clothes, or rakes you across the coals with pricing.
Instead of trying five different places and hating them all, spend a little time selecting the right laundry service. Follow these 6 signs to find the best Orlando laundry service for your family.
1 – Know who’s washing your laundry
Did you know there’s a dark side to the laundry industry? It’s true: the people you’re paying to pick up, wash, and deliver your clothes might just be a delivery person and not a laundry pro at all.
For all you know, these guys are taking your clothes to their ratty apartment, washing them in an old residential washer, and charging you a huge price.
Always look for an independent business that’s staffed by professional employees. If the Orlando laundry service is outsourcing to a ton of contractors and third-parties, you just can’t know for sure who’s handling your clothes.
2 – Clothes treatments
How will they treat your clothes once they pick them up from your doorstep?
The Laundry Room uses high-end treatments and detergents to get your clothes squeaky-clean. But those other guys? A lot of laundry services use the cheapest bulk cleaner they can get, which is about as effective as washing your smelly t-shirt in old sink water.
And here’s another secret: some laundry services will dump all of your clothes as one load. They don’t separate colors or delicates, which means your silk tops could be ruined at the end of a cycle. Worse still, some laundromats will wash your clothes with other customers’ orders (ew).
If your Orlando laundry service doesn’t specify that it separates loads and customer orders (like we do), go somewhere else.
3 – Packaging
When you’re looking for a service that delivers laundry in Orlando, ask how they package and transport your clothes. Do they toss them in a garbage bag, or do they carefully fold and package everything?
Don’t pay someone to wash your clothes if they don’t bother to fold them neatly. You want a service like The Laundry Room that pre-folds everything so all you have to do is open a drawer and go about your business.
4 – Turnaround time
Some Orlando laundry services will take three days or more to wash your clothes. That’s fine if you aren’t in a rush, but what if you only have 1 pair of clean underwear left?
We can usually turn around your laundry within 24 hours, but not all services can promise a quick, efficient turnaround. If you need clean clothes fast, always check your provider’s turnaround time (and customer reviews, to make sure they fulfill those turnaround times).
5 – Pricing & payments
Laundry pickup and delivery costs money, for sure, but it saves you an incredible amount of time and stress. But make sure you’re okay with the pricing and payment options first.
Your laundry provider should have prices posted on their website so you know exactly what you’ll pay each time. For example, The Laundry Room charges $1.50 per pound of laundry with a $15 minimum for free pickup and delivery.
You want flat-rate pricing and transparency. This is your money, so make sure you understand what the price includes, too. What’s included in the cost? Do they tack on a delivery fee or other surprise charges?
The payment options need to work for you, too. Can you pay conveniently via an app or online? The Laundry Room allows you to pay for your laundry online in a 100% digital transaction, which means no cash or prepaid cards are required.
6 – COVID-19 protocol
You should always ask yourself, “Is there a laundry service near me that takes COVID seriously?”
In addition to washing your clothes with high-end detergents and at a heat higher than what a residential dryer can do, your Orlando laundry service needs proper COVID procedures.
For example, The Laundry Room offers completely contact-free pickup and delivery to keep everyone safe. Make sure you choose a service that prioritizes your family’s well-being.
