The Dos and Don’ts of Laundry Pickup and Delivery Service

Life’s moving at a breakneck pace these days. Between work, family, and whatever semblance of a social life you have after the pandemic, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

But who says you have to be Wonder Woman or Superman? Instead of pressuring yourself to do it all, it’s nice to outsource annoying tasks, like laundry, to someone else for a change.

If laundry drop off service is new to you, join the club. Most folks are so used to doing laundry themselves that outsourcing to someone like The Laundry Room seems totally foreign.

The do’s and don’ts of laundry pick up and delivery

If you’re new to using a laundry service, you might wonder what’s normal and what’s expected of you. Get the most out of your laundry service by avoiding common missteps that might cost you time or money. Follow these do’s and don’ts to enjoy easier, better laundry delivery service.

Do: Ask about laundry pickup and delivery options

Every laundry delivery service handles pickup and delivery differently. Some laundromats don’t offer it at all, while others will charge you an extra fee for pick up and delivery.

That’s not our style, though. The Laundry Room always includes free laundry pickup and delivery on all wash and fold orders, so you never have to worry about extra fees. Just pick a time that works for you and our team takes care of the rest.

Don’t: Separate or sort your laundry

The point of outsourcing laundry is to save time. Why waste time sorting your laundry for someone else to wash? You’re paying a laundry service to do that for you, so you don’t need to separate your clothes if you don’t want to.

The Laundry Room always separates your lights, darks, and delicates. Don’t worry about your new red shirt dyeing your white socks pink; we take care of it so you get fresh laundry without the hassle.

Do: Check their service areas

Some laundromats have very limited service areas. Other providers will even add on a surcharge if you’re outside of their area, so always check where they deliver before you sign up!

The Laundry Room services most of the Orlando, Florida area. But we do our best to accommodate people, so if you aren’t listed in our service area, just call our laundromat to see if we can help you (the answer is usually yes!).

Don’t: Arrive late with a same-day request

Do you need your work shirts cleaned ASAP? Most laundromats offer same-day dropoff service, but you do need to drop off laundry by the cutoff time. For us, it’s 11 am, so make sure you stop by before then if you need clothes cleaned by the end of the day.

Do: Check your order status online

It’s the 21st century, after all. Make sure you use the laundry drop off service’s online portal so you can check on your order status. You’ll be able to pay through the portal, too. There’s no need to call if you’re wondering about your order. The Laundry Room sends our customers text and email notifications for every step of your order.

Don’t: Risk your health

There’s no need to go into the laundromat if you don’t want to. Laundry pickup and delivery service is a safe, contact-free way to get your clothes cleaned while minimizing your exposure to germs. Plus, a laundromat’s commercial-grade machines ensure your clothes are cleaned at a higher temperature, eliminating more trapped germs than your home machines.

The Laundry Room offers contactless pickup and dropoff. Just request service and note your preference while ordering.

Do: Ask for special requests if you need them

Are you allergic to a certain detergent? Do you want to use fabric softener on your t-shirts? Any laundry drop off service worth its salt will allow you to customize your requests.

Whether you want to switch out detergents or wash clothes with hot or cold water, our service is happy to accommodate. Don’t be afraid to spell out exactly what you want. Remember, a laundry delivery service is here to serve you, so it’s okay to be a little picky.

Don’t: Leave stains untreated

That greasy pizza stain on your favorite t-shirt needs help ASAP. While we work our best to remove stubborn stains from your clothing, you’ll have greater success if you treat the stain immediately instead of letting it sit for a week.

Time is of the essence here. Treat the stain as soon as that glass of wine dribbles down your sweater. Keep in mind that certain types of fabric and stains require different approaches, so do a quick Google search to make sure you aren’t causing more damage with your Tide To-Go Pen.

If you treat the stain immediately and then send your clothes off to the Laundry Room, it’s much easier for us to remove that stain for good.

Do: Understand the pricing

Almost every laundry drop off service prices its services by the pound. When you look at a laundry provider, make sure you understand their pricing and what, exactly, you get for the money. Do they charge extra fees for pickup, delivery, 24-hour turnarounds, or special requests?

At The Laundry Room, pickup and delivery are included for free. With transparent pricing, you always know what you’re paying for laundry service.

The bottom line

There’s no shame in being a laundry pickup and delivery service newbie. If you’ve never outsourced your laundry before, follow these dos and don’ts to avoid any hiccups and get the most seamless experience possible.
